Wilkeson Handcar Races July 25, 2026 Coke Oven Park | Wilkeson, Washington Part of Wilkeson Days | Last full weekend in July If you have never seen a handcar race, this is your year. Each July, the small town of Wilkeson throws a two day community celebration known as Wilkeson Days. There is a parade, live music, food vendors, and a whole lot of small town energy. The main event - The Wilkeson Handcar Races at historic Coke Oven Park. Teams of 3 or 5 compete on authentic style handcars over a 300 foot course. Two or four people power the car while a pusher helps launch the start. It is fast, loud, competitive, and a little chaotic in the best possible way. The fastest time in each class wins. Want to race? • You must be 18 or older and physically able to operate the handcar without assistance • Teams are 3 or 5 people total • Signups happen at the track on race day • Cost is $5 per person, per race • Think you can beat a time - You can race again Whether you are racing or cheering from the sidelines, it is one of the most entertaining summer events in the foothills.
