Overview

This location is available on a first-come, first-served basis only. Campsites may not be reserved in advance. Visitors are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Visitors can pay by cash on site, or by using Scan and Pay . Download the Recreation.gov mobile app before you arrive at the campground, and pay through your phone using the Scan and Pay QR code which is located on site. The campground is very popular, the camping spots fill early in the week. Forlorn Lakes offers nearby access to Indian Heaven via the East Crater Trailhead. Forlorn Lakes, one of the most popular campgrounds in the southern part of the forest, offers 25 campsites scattered around the wooded shores of small, picturesque lakes. Swimming and fishing are possible in the larger lakes. Huckleberry bushes grow in the campground and surrounding area making this site very popular during huckleberry season. The campsites at a maximum 18 feet long are suitable for tent camping and small campers or RV's. The day use area has lake views, picnic tables, and fire rings. From Trout Lake, Washington drive west on Highway 141 to the forest boundary where 141 becomes Forest Road 24. Continue west on Forest Road 24 past Peterson Prairie Campground to the intersection with Forest Road 60. At this intersection continue straight onto Forest Road 60. At the intersection with Forest Road 66 follow the signs for Goose Lake, taking a right to continue driving west on Forest Road 60. After about one and one-half miles there will be a sign for Forlorn Lakes Campground. Turn right onto Forest Road 6035 at the sign and continue on this road to the campground. From Carson, Washington, drive north for 4.8 miles on Wind River Highway (Forest Road 30) to Panther Creek Road. Take a right on Panther Creek Road at the sign for Panther Creek Campground. A valid Recreation Pass is required at Forlorn Lakes Day Use site. This $5 fee is separate from the campground fee. Valid recreation passes include: $5 day use fee, Northwest Forest Annual pass, and any of the Interagency Passes. These passes are NOT applicable at the campground.
