A $5 Waterfall and Ghost Town Combo Sits Just Outside Enumclaw

ENUMCLAW, WA—A short drive from town leads to one of the more quietly remarkable spots in King County: the Green River Gorge Conservation Area, built around the ruins of a 1920s resort that never quite made it out of the last century. According to @southsoundfamily, the private property is open to visitors for $5 per person (ages 13 and up), paid through a cash box on-site or via Cash App.

About a mile of trails wind along the river past a waterfall and the kind of sculpted basalt formations that make kids forget their screens exist. Shoes with real grip are worth the effort—the rocks can be slippery and the trails muddy in the wetter months.

Parking is available in a lot across the street, or visitors can use the Franklin ghost town lot just across the bridge, which makes it easy to fold both stops into a single afternoon. @southsoundfamily recommends pairing the gorge with the Franklin ghost town trail, and for a five-dollar entry, that’s a hard itinerary to argue with.
