Carnelian Agates and Jade Turning Up in the Greenwater River
Rockhounders from @cascade.jade are working the Greenwater River for agates and ramping up activity at a nearby jade claim.
GREENWATER, WA—The river running through one of Enumclaw’s favorite mountain getaways is hiding more than cold water and smooth stones. According to @cascade.jade, the Greenwater River is producing carnelian agates, jasper, and jaspagate for those willing to wade in and look.
The Instagram account, which documents Pacific Northwest rockhounding, recently posted a reel from the Greenwater showing finds pulled from the river alongside notes about a hike and a swim. The crew also says they’re increasing work on something called the Tree Frog Jade Claim, suggesting the area has more going on beneath the surface than most day-hikers realize.
For Enumclaw-area readers who already head up Highway 410 toward Greenwater for the scenery, this is a reasonable excuse to bring a bucket.
